Underwriting

Below are the underwriting requirements for each of our life insurance carriers, including height and weight charts, and various guidelines. This is an easy, convenient place to get this information, regardless of with whom you are writing the business. Additionally, we’ve taken the liberty to give quick insights as to specific niches we’ve found for each carrier. Of course, be sure to call Dave on specific hard-to-place cases. He can guide you in finding the correct carrier for your risk the first time around.

American General – One of our best carriers for understanding international business travel.
Genworth – We quite often get preferred rates for private pilots (without an aviation exclusion!) who fly just for pleasure, have an IFR, and fly between 25 to 150 hours a year.
ING Life Companies – Family history guidelines only reference cardiac histories… NO penalty for family history of cancer.
Lafayette – Having troubles with the unreasonableness of your big Eastern mutual company? Try out this A++ mutually held company’s more middle-of-the-road approach! Also, the Heritage Whole Life is great for your clients who don’t want to fool with an exam.
Lincoln – Table three to standard program for UL. Chewers can get standard non-smoker rates. Great underwriting for well controlled, older age, type II diabetics… sometimes even preferred!
Mutual of Omaha – Rates are based on “Age Last” (actual age) instead of “Age Nearest”. This gives you a leg up on the competition in the older ages! Definitely some of the best underwriting you’ll find at a mutual company.
NACOLAH – Only 20% extra rating per table on their guaranteed UL. Also, table 4 to standard on some of their most competitive current-assumption permanent products.
Protective – We find that we can often get standard rates for clients whose build is table two on build charts! Protective utilizes a credit/debit system which can find credits for things like family history, cholesterol, chest size versus waist size, etc… to overcome the debits that would normally cause a rating due to a height/weight chart.
